Harmoney is adapting rapidly as the impact of COVID-19 evolves. Financial services businesses such as Harmoney, have been classed as an essential services so we will continue operating through the lockdown. Our staff are set up and working remotely, and we are continually monitoring the latest information from the New Zealand and Australian governments. We are making changes to help our borrowers and lenders (also called investors).
Please note: We are experiencing higher than normal volumes to our customer service team. We ask for your patience as they work hard to respond to all customer enquiries as quickly as possible during this uncertain and quickly changing time.
New loan applicants
Harmoney offers a completely online loan quote and application process. As we do not require face-to-face meetings with customers, we don’t anticipate any major disruption to this service. However, some applicants may experience short delays as we adjust to changing credit requirements, but we expect these to be minimal.
If your circumstances change in the coming weeks and you are concerned you may not be able to make a repayment, or you are experiencing unforeseen hardship, please contact our customer service team as soon as possible on 0800 427 666, Monday to Sunday 9am-6pm.

What if I have Payment Protect?
Payment Protect is an optional service you may have chosen to add to your loan. If so, it provides a repayment waiver, which means that you are not liable for certain payments when your cover applies:
- Partial cover: This covers death and terminal illness.
- Complete cover: This covers death, terminal illness, disability (due to illness, a medical condition, or accidental injury), and redundancy.
It is important that you contact Harmoney as soon as possible when an event happens that impacts your ability to make your loan repayments, and which may be covered by Payment Protect (including events related to Covid-19). This will allow us to process your repayment waiver application in a timely fashion. Please note that your application may be declined if we do not receive it, or other required information, within the timeframes set out in the Payment Protect terms.

In these uncertain times, we do anticipate managing an increase in arrears. Our Collections Team are on-hand to support borrowers. They will be maintaining our usual Collections Process and Harmoney will continue to follow the Government-directed Unforeseen Hardship process.

Government support package
The NZ Covid-19 government website is the fastest, most up to date place to find out what financial support you may be eligible for. The government has also up helplines on 0800 779 997 or on 0800 22 66 57 if you cannot find what you need on the site, or are unsure who to contact for help.
Some of the financial assistance you may be eligible for:
- A COVID-19 Leave Payment - if you can’t work because you’re sick, self-isolating, or caring for dependents of those sick or self-isolating.
- Help with essential costs such as food, accommodation, utilities or medical costs
- Employers, contractors, sole traders or self-employed people may qualify for a wage subsidy
- A six-month mortgage payment holiday. Contact your bank for details
- SME owners may also be eligible for government guaranteed loans to assist them out of hardship. Contact your bank for details

The government has also announced that landlords cannot increase rent for the next six months or evict tenants except in specific circumstances. Find out more at tenancy.govt.nz
